March Madness….Lacrosse!!
Sunday the field of 64(65 w/one play-in-game) was announced for the Mens NCAA Basketball Tournament. I love the NCAA tournament and I am a die-hard college hoops fan but what some don’t know is that right now the Lacrosse season is in full swing. College teams have been playing for about a month and High School Lacrosse is about to jump off.
I grew up on Long Island and lacrosse was a major part of my life. These days I am just a fan but during the days of March when the sky is gray and the ground starts to thaw I start to think back to the time when I used to play.
These days you can catch a game on one of the cable sports channels on the regular. I am not surprised how the popularity of the game has exploded over the last 20 or so years. If you ‘re not familiar, the game of Lacrosse offers -in my opinion – an amazing spectator experience for sports fans. The game is high scoring, fast-moving and it combines strategy similar to that of basketball and hockey with the physicality of American Football.
Check these pix of Lacrosse cool:

Old School Kit

Jim Brown – Most people don’t even know he played the game let alone that he is considered by some to be the best ever.

Gary Gait -This guy was the MJ of lacrosse. They changed the rules because of him. This move was dubbed Air Gait for obvious reasons.

Syracuse is like the evil empire of the game and they have the hardware to prove it. They play the game with as much swagger as any of Jim Boeheim’s Syracuse hoops teams ever has. Respect.
So if you have the opportunity to take in a game at the local high school or even a college game I would highly encourage it.
